TRAINING FACILITIES AND COURSE.

Our rowing course on the South Arm is 2km long with a full 8 lanes and markers at each 500m.
The finish line is just upstream from Ferry Park Information Centre.
You can row for many kilometres with little river traffic to disturb you on our tidal river, and if really keen, you can row the 55 km around Woodford Island.
The North Coast Academy of Sport holds rowing development camps here.
Brisbane, Gold Coast schools and other clubs run their rowing camps at our club for the excellent rowing conditions and great facilities.

Testimonial from John Bowes, Head Coach, Nudgee College, Brisbane. I have been coming to the Lower Clarence Rowing Club at Maclean for rowing camps since 1995; over 20 years. Maclean is a quiet town in Northern New South Wales on the mighty Clarence River. The water is ideal for rowing training with lots and lots of kilometres of good quality calm water. There is only minimal tide on the Clarence River so the water is usually good. Since the 2000 Sydney Olympics, the Lower Clarence Rowing Club has built a new rowing shed on the South Arm of the Clarence River. The shed has accommodation for 50 athletes, an industrial kitchen and showers. There is a 2000 metre measured rowing course close to the rowing shed. This is great for racing or doing timed work pieces over the course. Every 500 metres is clearly marked. For cross training, cycling around Maclean is very safe especially on Woodford Island. Cycling around the island from the shed is 42 kilometres, perfect for an afternoon session! Maclean is one of the best rowing training venues in the country and the people are so welcoming
